In loving memory of Natasha Sita Anderson (Perera), born on September 16, 1977, we celebrate her life and mourn her passing on February 1st, 2024, surrounded by her family after being suddenly hospitalized and overwhelmed by a rapid onset and inexplicable physical illness. Natasha was a compassionate soul, radiating unwavering love and empathy for all.

Though her life was taken from us, her beautiful soul is everlasting. Natasha found solace in her friends and family, both in person and in her virtual community. An avid reader, she immersed herself in the world of literature. Natasha was an ardent advocate for the underdog, dedicating her efforts to equity and fairness in all her pursuits.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy embraced by her beloved family: husband Mark, children Lena (11) and Makai (8), brother Hershel, sister-in-law Julie, and nephews Krish and Aary. Her parents, Asha (Sam) and Hiran (Lizzy), were integral parts of her life, each contributing to the extraordinary spirit she embodied. In addition, her extended family, including loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, played pivotal roles in shaping the rich tapestry of her life.

Natasha's friendships stood as a testament to her generous spirit and genuine care for others. Her friends were not just companions but her chosen family, each holding a special place in her heart, forging bonds that transcended mere friendship.

As a heartfelt tribute to Natasha, we kindly request that you play "Adore" by Prince on your own time—a song that beautifully encapsulates the enduring beauty and love she brought into our lives.

Friends are invited to gather at the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa on Friday, February 9th, after 12noon. A celebration of Natasha's Life will be held at 1 p.m. followed by a reception in her honor.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Natasha's name to the Canadian Children's Literacy Foundation.

As we bid farewell to her physical presence, let us carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and joy. Though she may be absent in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Amiga querida...

I'm so grateful for the time I had with your beautiful friendship in my life, a life that is now so much better and richer because of you.

My precious bird of paradise, my tropical flower, I wish we could have met in person that I could have hugged you and tell you how important your friendship is to me and how it will always be.

You're still in the books we read together, I will always find you there, in the songs we sent each other and even in the silly memes I know you would have found funny.

I have to tell you and I know this will please you, I don't want to own a raccoon anymore.

Thank you Nat, te quiero muchísimo!

The news of your passing still feels so surreal.
You were such a warm soul and your kindness and positivity shone so brightly. Thank you for all the lovely texts, the voice messages, the laughter, everything.
I cannot believe that I will never get to talk about books with you again. Some of our conversations were the favorite part of my day.
I take solace in the fact that you are now an angel that will watch over your family and friends❤️.
Rest easy, Tash🙏🕊️❤️.

I met Natasha very few times, but every time I did, I saw a warm sincere smile on her face and an aura of positivity surrounding her. She seemed someone who one could look up to, as a friend, and one who would always be there for them. I still have a difficult time understanding how a cruel moment can just like that, snatch her away from her loved ones. I pray god to give them strength to try and deal with their loss. I also believe that she has turned into a bright shining star, who will always be there in spirit for her loved ones, to guide and protect them. My deepest condolences and hugs to Asha, Hiran, Mark, Hershel, Julie, Sam and the children.

Dearest Natasha, meeting you online was honestly such a wonderful coincidence that I will never stop being grateful for. You were the embodiment of love and light to everyone you interacted with and I can only imagine how much more your presence lit up the lives of the people in your every day life, considering how much you were able to light up mine from thousands of miles away. You will be so so missed, my friend!

It’s rare to connect so deeply with someone you’ve never met, rare to have them so ingrained in your personal life when you’ve never even held them. But that was you; there was no shallowness to your connections, no superficiality to how you loved people.
You have inspired me to be better and I’m thankful to have known you in this life. You are gone but your spirit will live on in everyone who ever knew you. Rest well, my beautiful friend.
