**In Loving Memory of Maxime Périard**

Maxime Périard, aged 48, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the Ottawa General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue.

Born on May 7, 1976, in Aylmer Quebec, Max leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted mother, Micheline, and is pre-deceased by his father, Pierre. His brother Patrick and beloved nephew Zachary will carry his memory close to their hearts, alongside many other family members and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Fourteen years ago, Max found his soulmate, Amanda Walkowiak. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, which led to the birth of their beautiful daughter, Emilie, who embodies the best qualities of both her parents, making her truly extraordinary.

Max's life was enriched by his passions, including woodworking, a deep appreciation for nature, and the joy of being with his beloved family and dogs.

As a dedicated member of the Ottawa Police for 18 years, Detective Maxime Périard was known for his unwavering commitment to duty, his tireless work ethic and high standards of integrity.

Max’s family and friends extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical teams who supported him during his courageous battle with cancer.

Though Max’s passing leaves an immense void in the lives of all who knew him, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories and hearts of those he touched.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Beechwood Memorial Centre (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, K1L 8A6). Later, at 5 p.m.,  there will be a celebration of Max's life at the Ottawa Police Association (141 Catharine St, Ottawa, K2P 1C3). This will be a  send off the way Max would want, with family, friends, stories, laughter, music, and refreshments. In true Max fashion, attendees are encouraged to wear plaid and Carhartt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the GoFundMe established to support Emilie's future.

Rest easy, Max. Your legacy of love, honour and strength will never be forgotten.

It broke my heart to hear of Maxime’s passing. We were good friends in highschool and all I know is that he made class so much better. We would laughed so much. Later he played on the same football team as my husband and we kept hanging out. Last time I saw him was during our 10th year graduation anniversary. He hadn’t change same old funny Max. I didn’t see him after that but I was always hoping we would meet somewhere and continue where we left off. I’m happy to know he found his true love and he’s has a beautiful little girl. May he rest in peace and look over both of you forever. He will be missed.
