It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Marilyn Bhumgara on August 23, 2025, at the age of 80. Joan was the beloved wife and lifelong partner of Noel. She was the most wonderful and devoted mother to Michael, David (Tammy), Anne, and Christine (Bruce), and a proud and adoring grandmother to Chloe, Nicholas, Griffin, and Kai, who were constant sources of happiness in her life. Daughter of Arsene and Pearl, Joan is also survived by her dear brother Gary (Cindy). Joan will be remembered for her rare and boundless kindness and thoughtfulness. She had a gift for making others feel special — whether by remembering birthdays and milestones, finding the perfect gift, or offering a compassionate shoulder to lean on. She loved a good laugh and valued the connections she made throughout her life. Her friendships, especially with her cherished circle of girlfriends, meant the world to her and brought her immense joy. Above all, Joan adored her family and extended family. Her warmth and love was whole-hearted and unconditional. She had a remarkable way of making every new in-law, partner or friend feel instantly welcomed and loved as one of her own.

We love her “to the moon and back”.

We invite family and friends to join us for a mass at 11am followed by a celebration of life on August 29th, 2025 hosted by her loving community at the Good Shepherd Church, 3092 Innes Road, Ottawa, ON K1W 1C8.  In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations to The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ottawa  https://tinyurl.com/CHEO-Donate-Now

My condolences to the Bhumgara family. We were neighbours on Woodburn Dr. Mrs. Bhumgara was always so lovely and pleasant to all us kids. She used to chat with my Mother on the street. They both had their hands full with all of us kids.
I remember her fondly.

Joanne was always a light in everyone’s life. She will be missed deeply. She is the reason I started singing at church and a big part of why I went back to sing, too. She encouraged me in ways I cannot explain and I am deeply grateful.
