It is with profound sadness that the family of Donald Herbert Mumby, born November 17, 1939 in Lethbridge, Alberta, announce his peaceful passing on April 18, 2022.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 59 years Marion, who was always by his side. He was a dedicated father to his daughter Ruth Ann (Steve) Sullivan and his son Dale (Wendy), loving grandfather to Mark (Maryse), Katie (Jordan), Tyanna, Donald, and Declan and great grandfather to Colby, Florence, Eloise, and Gabriel.
Donald is survived by his brother Larry (Aleta) and sister Carol (Larry) Blenner-Hassett.
Donald joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1958 and retired as a Chief Superintendent following a 35 year career that he loved. Donald was also a proud Mason and served as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Canada in 2003-2005.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave., Vanier, ON on April 26, 2022. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with a Service following at 1:00pm. The Celebration of Life; with the exclusion of the Masonic Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donald Herbert Mumby’s name to the Orleans United Church, The Tunis Shriners, or a charity of their choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Montfort Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Donald.

Over 50 years ago we moved to a brand-new neighbourhood in Queenswood Heights and the first people who greeted us were Don and Marion Mumby. That initial meeting was the beginning of a close friendship between our families that has grown with each passing decade. Indeed, my father and Don were the best of friends. When they weren’t busy with their work, they spent their leisure time discussing home projects, attending neighbourhood block and house parties, solving the world's problems, visits to the cottage, and of course Lodge. The passing of Mr. Mumby leaves us all very deeply saddened. I trust that that the love of family, which was the source of strength in Don’s life, will comfort the entire family during these difficult times. Our most heartfelt condolences.
