It is with profound sadness that the family of Donald Herbert Mumby, born November 17, 1939 in Lethbridge, Alberta, announce his peaceful passing on April 18, 2022.

Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 59 years Marion, who was always by his side.  He was a dedicated father to his daughter Ruth Ann (Steve) Sullivan and his son Dale (Wendy), loving grandfather to Mark (Maryse), Katie (Jordan), Tyanna, Donald, and Declan and great grandfather to Colby, Florence, Eloise, and Gabriel.

Donald is survived by his brother Larry (Aleta) and sister Carol (Larry) Blenner-Hassett.

Donald joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1958 and retired as a Chief Superintendent following a 35 year career that he loved. Donald was also a proud Mason and served as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Canada in 2003-2005.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave., Vanier, ON on April 26, 2022.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with a Service following at 1:00pm.  The Celebration of Life; with the exclusion of the Masonic Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donald Herbert Mumby’s name to the Orleans United Church, The Tunis Shriners, or a charity of their choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Montfort Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Donald.

Marian, Please accept my condolences. We will miss Don enormously. When he entered a room, everyone noticed. His quiet dignity commanded attention. When he spoke, everyone listened. His knowledge and experience demanded attention. When the work was finished, he did not hang around for the applause. His generous instinct let others have the attention. When a brother needed a sympathetic ear, he was all attention. He was one of a kind. With thoughts and prayers and all good wishes

Don will certainly be sorely missed - a great leader, patient teacher and mentor, a fine friend, and a wonderful person. It was a pleasure knowing him.

The first family that we met when we moved to Queenswood Heights 51 years ago! Neighbours and friends who became family! Our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Mumby, Dale, Ruth Ann and the rest of the family, we are so sorry for your loss. Mr. Mumby was my dad’s best friend, someone that he truly connected with and so enjoyed his company. As was said earlier by Erin Reid, there are so many wonderful stories, pictures, and memories that will forever keep Don’s memories alive. Sending our love, God Bless, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this challenging time.

so very sorry and sad. We got so close to Uncle Donald over the last few years - in which he shared so many stories and memories - priceless. All my love to Aunt Marion, Ruth Ann, Steve, Dale, Wendy and families.

Uncle Don - a life full of accolades, a beautiful soul, a rich legacy you leave your loved ones… now is your time to rest
