Art leaves behind his cherished family; Eleta, his wife & soulmate of 58 years, his son Troy (Josee, Ashley & Joshua) and his daughter Tami Cogan (Christopher & Mackenzie). He also leaves behind his brothers Wendell (Trudy) and Keith (Yoki) and his sisters, Alice Fedosoff (Edward) and Doris Mercer (late Richard). Art was predeceased by his parents Robert and Lena Crosby (née Morton) as well as his late sister Phyllis Pierce (James) of Port Maitland NS.
Art enjoyed an interesting and varied 35 years with the RCMP which included 17 physical postings from Inuvik to Victoria to Corner Brook NF and many in between. Art’s most gratifying and rewarding posting was as Commanding Officer “L” div PEI. Upon Art’s retirement they put down roots in Kanata ON in 1998. Art worked with the Canadian Peacekeeping Centre, UN (East Timor) and African Union (Sudan).
In his spare time Art was an avid reader and gardener/landscaper. He enjoyed a game of golf (whack a ball) with his buddy Jack Beaudin.
Thank you to the staff (Orchard House) Granite Ridge Care Community for their care and dedication during these difficult times.
In keeping with Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Beechwood RCMP National Memorial Cemetery in Ottawa on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or the Dementia/Alzheimer’s Society of Ottawa

Art as a brother was always easy to talk to and supportive in my career and life in general. Will always have fond memories of our times growing up on the family farm or just whacking a golf ball. Miss Art's sage advice and sense of humor. In my heart bro forever.

Condolences go out to Eleta and family. Art and I have a curious history. We went through the RCMP commissioning process together, starting in Regina Sk in 1982. It was a grueling process and when it was done, we both got transferred to Nfld. Art remarked to me, "Do you think they are trying to get ride of us?". Over the years Art and I crossed paths. He was ever the professional, highly regarded by his coworkers. His life was full and he made his mark.

Thoughts and prayers with Eleta and Art’s friends and family. Got to know many of them during my time in Hay River and Yarmouth. I was fortunate enough to have served with Art in PEI. He was a great guy and always looked out for his troops. He will be missed.

Presently as the Sergeant Major In L Division, I met Art as I was entering policing in 1996 and during his tenure as CO of L. He was a wonderful member and very proud and passionate in his service to the RCMP and to Prince Edward Island. My deepest condolences to your family on this loss. Rest in Peace Sir!
My sincere condolences to you and your family. May you find comfort in the cherished memories you have of your loved one.
