Art leaves behind his cherished family; Eleta, his wife & soulmate of 58 years, his son Troy (Josee, Ashley & Joshua) and his daughter Tami Cogan (Christopher & Mackenzie).  He also leaves behind his brothers Wendell (Trudy) and Keith (Yoki) and his sisters, Alice Fedosoff (Edward) and Doris Mercer (late Richard). Art was predeceased by his parents Robert and Lena Crosby (née Morton) as well as his late sister Phyllis Pierce (James) of Port Maitland NS.

Art enjoyed an interesting and varied 35 years with the RCMP which included 17 physical postings from Inuvik to Victoria to Corner Brook NF and many in between. Art’s most gratifying and rewarding posting was as Commanding Officer “L” div PEI. Upon Art’s retirement they put down roots in Kanata ON in 1998.  Art worked with the Canadian Peacekeeping Centre, UN (East Timor) and African Union (Sudan).

In his spare time Art was an avid reader and gardener/landscaper. He enjoyed a game of golf (whack a ball) with his buddy Jack Beaudin.

Thank you to the staff (Orchard House) Granite Ridge Care Community for their care and dedication during these difficult times.

In keeping with Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Beechwood RCMP National Memorial Cemetery in Ottawa on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or the Dementia/Alzheimer’s Society of Ottawa

Dear Elita and family,
As next door neighbours during your time on PEI, we got to know Art very well as he was very approachable . In fact, we feel we became good friends. Art was so unassuming but he was knowlegeable in may areas. With his kinetic energy and hardworking ethic, he created and maintained a beautiful property and was always there to give us his sage advice on ours whenever we asked.
Art was always pleasant, sincere and helpful.
He indeed was a true gentleman!
Our hearts go out to all of you.
