It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Beregzaszy on April 25, 2026, at age 50, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family.
Beloved husband and best friend of Sonia, and devoted father and stepfather to Jacob, Gabriella, Isabella and Anna. Cherished son of Andras and Magda (Domian) Beregszaszy, and loving brother of Rita (Beregszaszy) Bourget (Christian and nephew, Jonathan). Chris will be fondly remembered by his in-laws Nicole and Ronald D’Ambrosio, sister-in law Chantale D’Ambrosio (David Rea and nephew, Philippe Morin), and many extended family and friends in Hungary, Ottawa and Montreal.
Born in Mississauga and raised in both Brantford and Ottawa, Chris was a gifted mechanical engineer, talented craftsman and lifelong problem-solver. Â A Carleton University Mechanical Engineering graduate, he worked for many years with the federal government and most recently as a Senior Program Engineer with Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Chris was an avid traveller and willing to try anything — motorcycling, four-wheeling and even yoga and paint nights with his wife.
But above all, his favourite place was at home, cooking meals from scratch, helping his children with their homework, cheering on their latest passions, and making every holiday special with large gatherings of family and friends. Chris shared a deep and enduring partnership with Sonia, building a life together filled with love, laughter and an ever-present list of renovation projects in their dream home.
Chris will be remembered for his kindness, humility and unlimited generosity. He was simply a wonderful man — taken too soon. Please join the family in celebrating Chris by signing Beechwoods Digital guestbook.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family at Beechwood Funeral Home & Cemetary. The 11:30 AM Mass on Sunday, May 24 at Faustina Parish in Cumberland will be offered for the repose of the soul of Christopher Beregszaszy. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
