It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved Alex fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 64 years. Beloved son of the late Fares (Frank) Monsour and the late Helen (Elaine) Monsour (née Nassrallah). Loving brother of the late Alfred (“Alfie”) Monsour, Eli Monsour, and Alexa Monsour. He will be sadly missed by his many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Alex was a compassionate and caring individual, whose personality and humour would often brighten a room. His laugh and personality were infectious. He loved his family and friends, and he was universally loved in return. Alex had a passion for cars and the pursuit of knowledge. He was a source of strength and stability for all who knew him. Alex will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will receive visitors and Mass attendees at St. Elias Cathedral, located at 750 Ridgewood Avenue, Ottawa, ON, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Beechwood Cemetery, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Elias Cathedral or a charity of your choosing.

We lucked into wandering down to Gabe’s Kanata as a staff one Friday afternoon post Covid almost 5 years ago… about 15 of us landed on their outdoor patio….Alex was our bartender….from the moment he brought out our drinks he was cracking jokes…and so we went back the next week…he had most of our drinks and names memorized!
From then on…4 years of Fridays…we had Alex as our server… he knew us…we got to know him..,he never passed up the chance to joke or laugh with us while we decompressed from our week…! He sometimes had my drink ready before I even got there !
TGIF’s for us won’t be the same…
He wasn’t just our bartender…he became a friend…
We will miss him dearly! ❤️

Alex has been our server at Gabriel’s Kanata for many years. We always tried to sit in his section because we loved chatting with him. We are so sad to hear of his passing, and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Our breakfasts won’t be the same without him.

I got to know Alex over the last few years during my weekly breakfasts at Gabriel’s. Over time, the brief conversations I was able to share with him became something I’d always look forward to. No matter how busy the morning was, Alex always made time to chat and took an interest into what I had going on in life. There aren’t many people I’ve come across who are able to make you feel welcome and put a smile on your face with a simple “Good morning, gentlemen” but that was a gift Alex had. Since I moved away from the area my weekly breakfasts stopped of course, but I always got word from friends that Alex had been asking about me. Moments like that show that nobody was just a customer to Alex, but rather everyone was a friend. I’ve been able to stop in a few times since moving away, and every time I’d head for the door Alex would say “We’ll you again soon”. My sincere condolences to Alex’s family. I hope knowing the positive impact he made on so many people’s lives brings you peace during this time.

Alex was so friendly when we came for brunch at Gabriel’s. We loved to compare stories about our Mustangs and he loved to tease my husband about the Cowboys. I will truly miss seeing his tall presence and great smile. I’m so sorry for the family. He left us way too early.

Four the past five years Alex would come by to visit
us after work on Sundays, always with a smile & a
hug. He was so kind to me, always wanting to know
if I needed anything done & Ray will miss his chats
about Gabriel’s. He was a wonderful friend to Ray
when they worked there together. It is such a sad
time for his Family & friends. I’ll miss your hugs Alex.

Alex was my waiter at Gabriel’s on Metcalfe downtown when I worked near there and we went for breakfast every Friday, he knew our orders and our names and always greeted us with his warm big smile. I missed those Fridays during the pandemic and was thrilled to walk in Gabriels in Kanata one day while visiting family and was so happy to see Alex, even with the mask on I could tell he was smiling. He still remembered my order. Over the last few years, we made it a habit to go for breakfast there whenever I was in town. Today my daughter called to tell me this terrible news. RIP sweet Alex, and my sincere condolences to your family. Alex will be missed.
