With regret, I have left this world on July 11, 2025, at the age of 86 predeceased by my beloved wife, sweetheart and best friend Thelma Murray (née MacMullin). I leave behind my dear sons Michael (Jenalyn) & Stephen, my precious daughter in law Janice, my cherished grandson Aidan & sweet granddaughter Ariella, my sisters Nancy & Gwen, brothers Eursal, Ken & Nick. While I am sad to be leaving, I am thankful to be joining my father Arnold, mother Vivian, sister Edith, brothers Gary, Wayne & Roy, granddaughter Hope, grandsons Rogue & Yohan & nephew Scotty. A special thank you to everyone who touched my life and contributed to my well being here in this world. Please do not shed tears but think of all the happy times & memories we shared on our earthly journey together. I will now be taking up residence with our Heavenly Father and family and will be honoured to welcome each of you when your journey on earth is completed.

Our family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Elizabeth Bruyere Center and La Maison de L'est Hospice for the care provided. In keeping with my wishes cremation has already taken place.

A memorial service will be held at the Beechwood Funeral Home 280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa on July 23 at 1:00 p.m., internment to follow in the National Military Cemetery Beechwood. Please join my family and friends for a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made and appreciated to CHEO, The Salvation Army, Ottawa Mission, Ottawa Food bank or a charity of your choice.

May our God continue to bless you until we meet again. Arnie, Emerson & Bubby

Our deepest condolences to Stephen and Michael and to all of Arnie's family. Arnie was a well respected leader within the Line Trade and a kind and patient mentor for many of us. He will be very much missed.

I was saddened to hear of Arnie's passing, he truly was an incredible man. For many years Arnie was the driving force and the backbone of the Canadian Forces Line Trade. His contribution to the strategic advancement of our trade and to its members was nothing short of phenomenal. To this day, Arnie remains the most dedicated and professional Lineman I have ever met. A great many lineman owe him their progression, both within the military and after leaving the trade, to continue within the civilian sector. It was an honor serving with Arnie as a Lineman, and, more importantly, as a friend. God bless.

A great mentor and visionary. As many other linemen, I am proud to walk in his footsteps.

Arnie was my boss, my mentor, my friend. He had a profound effect on my life and progression in the military, my career would not have been as successful without his guidance and support. His outstanding leadership and support from my QL 5 trade course in 1980 through my retirement and beyond cannot be understated.
Arnie thank you for believing in me and helping me to excel. To your Family may you find strength and comfort in fellowship of friends and each other at this time.

Murray Families

Michael, Steven and Families--We are sorry that your Dad, Grandfather and Friend, Emerson has departed. Em is our eldest brother and he has been a true older brother to all of us through the years. He was kind and supportive and always gave encouraging advice & guidance. Family was very important to him and he always maintained contact with family members. Em & Thelma were very good to our parents--they arranged travel for them to visit them at the various postings which moved them to multiple regions of the country. When Bub and Thelma visited our family home in Robinsonville many gatherings were held and good food, fun, laughter, music were always shared with extended families and neighbours. In his words "he lived a good life" and is part many many memories We hope you and your families can focus on those memories --that is what he would want for sure. On Behalf of Mona, Jackie, Eursal/Marjorie, Ken/Barbara, Nancy, Nick/Betty, Gwen and our families, and the families of Edith, Roy, Gary, Wayne, we wish that our children could enjoy the tightness and connectedness which we experienced among all of our siblings and their families--that is what Emerson would want.....He is gone but never forgotten.
