With regret, I have left this world on July 11, 2025, at the age of 86 predeceased by my beloved wife, sweetheart and best friend Thelma Murray (née MacMullin). I leave behind my dear sons Michael (Jenalyn) & Stephen, my precious daughter in law Janice, my cherished grandson Aidan & sweet granddaughter Ariella, my sisters Nancy & Gwen, brothers Eursal, Ken & Nick. While I am sad to be leaving, I am thankful to be joining my father Arnold, mother Vivian, sister Edith, brothers Gary, Wayne & Roy, granddaughter Hope, grandsons Rogue & Yohan & nephew Scotty. A special thank you to everyone who touched my life and contributed to my well being here in this world. Please do not shed tears but think of all the happy times & memories we shared on our earthly journey together. I will now be taking up residence with our Heavenly Father and family and will be honoured to welcome each of you when your journey on earth is completed.

Our family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Elizabeth Bruyere Center and La Maison de L'est Hospice for the care provided. In keeping with my wishes cremation has already taken place.

A memorial service will be held at the Beechwood Funeral Home 280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa on July 23 at 1:00 p.m., internment to follow in the National Military Cemetery Beechwood. Please join my family and friends for a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made and appreciated to CHEO, The Salvation Army, Ottawa Mission, Ottawa Food bank or a charity of your choice.

May our God continue to bless you until we meet again. Arnie, Emerson & Bubby

My deepest condolences to the family for your loss. It was an honour to know Arnie and be his neighbour even for such a short time. He was a very kind man and a gentle soul. He will be greatly missed.

Such a kind soul! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to share a glass of wine or two, during our summer visits to Cape Breton! Nick and Cameron will always remember the great fudge that Uncle Emerson would make for them, he will be greatly missed and remembered fondly. Rest in peace and enjoy your reunion with Thelma. God bless, Shari, Derek, Nick and Cameron

We couldn’t have asked for better neighbors, who became dear friends over the years. Our family shares many cherished memories with both Thelma and Arnie, which we will hold in our hearts forever. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your dad—please accept our heartfelt condolences. We’re so grateful to have known him, and we find comfort in knowing that he and your mom are together again.

Arnie was a kind wonderful person. Our family has so many good memories of our friendship, first when they lived near us in Vancouver then visits through the years and back together in Ottawa.

Arnie was one of the biggest forces of nature I’ve met in my life, a great mentor, leader and friend. His contribution to the Canadian Armed Forces Linemen Trade will not be forgotten. Deepest regrets to the family.
