Son of the late Earl Sr. and Gracia Istead.  Predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ethel.  He will be dearly missed by his sister Doris. Predeceased by siblings Doug, Ronald, George, Cora and Gordon.  Much loved by his children Joanne (Jesper), Linda (Vernon), Danny (Sheila), Karen (Brian) and Patrick (Cathy).  Proud grandfather to Erik, Jonelle, Graeme, Coady, Jason, Lyndsay, Jordan, Christopher, Brandon, Kaitlin, Nicole and Michelle.  He will be fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family, including Ethel’s siblings Louise, Carole (Ray), Gail (Dennis), the late Rachel (Art) and the late Mark.

He was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1950 to 1980. From 1980 to 1992 Earl worked with the Senate Protective Services. He was also a proud member of the Hylands Golf Course for many years.  A special thanks to the Waterford Retirement Home and Ideal Care Givers 4U Inc.

Deepest sympathies to Mr. Istead's family. My late father Roger Wood met him at the Waterford Retirement Community and enjoyed his friendship there. They both liked to laugh and tell stories. Karen, I enjoyed meeting you at the Waterford as we both spent a lot of time with our parents in their final years helping them throughout their many challenges. I know you will miss your parents as much as I miss mine.

Already missing my Waterford neighbour. Earl had a friendly disposition, a ready sense of humour, and a loving and well-loved family. Please accept my sympathy in your loss.

Uncle Earl was the strongest man I knew. I find solace in the fact that he is now reunited with his beautiful wife, aunt Ethel. God bless

Sending our deepest sympathies to Karen, Brian, Chris & Kristen, and Kaitlin & Ethan on the loss of your father & grandfather. I hope that the many cherished memories you created together over the years will bring you comfort during this difficult time. He knew you loved him unconditionally and I’m sure that brought him peace and comfort during his final days.
