With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on August 22, 2023. Mom passed away peacefully in the company of her daughters, after a long battle with dementia which eventually took away the independence that she so fiercely held on to.

Married for 27 years to her beloved husband David, who left us in 1990. Always dearly loved by her three daughters Sharon (Tom), Shelley (Chris) and Sheila (Rob), her seven grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Hanna (Sahnon), Jacob, Olivia, Owen, and Aidan and her great grandson Micah.

Wilma was born on April 14th, 1938, and lived most of her life on Farmer’s Way Road in Carlsbad Springs. She is predeceased by her parents Barbara and Gilmour Alexander, her sister Erma, and brothers Ernald and Wayne. She is survived by her sister Belma and brother Norman.

Wilma will be remembered for her kindness and her smile, her strong sense of duty and volunteerism, and most importantly her enduring commitment to her family.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1pm to 3pm followed by an internment ceremony at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, Ontario) on August 30th, 2023.

If you choose, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada could be made.

Thinking of you, the Messerschmidt and Alexander families today. When one thinks of Wilma, they remember a quiet, gentle, kind person. Through the years, whenever we found ourselves at the Riverside hospital campus or simply driving by your home on Farmer's Way, after visiting Sue & Wayne 😥, we would think of her. A life well lived.
With our sympathies,
