It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Stanley Hubbard on February 12th, 2026, loving partner and best friend to Angela Stever of 41 years.

Bob was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on October 16th, 1937, to Douglas and Alma Hubbard. He is survived by his sister Eileen and is predeceased by his siblings Dorothy, Douglas, and Donald. Bob was the loving father of Janice (Ray), Robert and his late daughter Wendy. He was a devoted stepfather to Shane and the late Duane. Bob will be dearly missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob proudly served his country for 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, enlisting at the age of 18 on February 14th,1955 and retiring in 1988. His distinguished military career took him to postings in Nova Scotia, Brussels, Vietnam, Egypt and New York, before his final posting to Ottawa. Bob also served with distinction as President of the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess.

Bob was a genuinely kind man with a ready smile and a zest for life, his family, friends and the next adventure. Always ready to lend a hand or tell a tale he was very much a people person. A dedicated volunteer, Bob gave 27 years of service to the Ottawa Heart Institute. He was very active with the Nepean Nomads Walking Club, the Montgomery Legion Golf club and other community organizations. Bob always said that the 20 winters he and Angela spent in Bucerias, Mexico, were paradise.

Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON), for a Memorial Service on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, at 1 p.m., followed by a Reception. An Interment will take place in the spring with military honours in the National Military Cemetery, located at Beechwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

My only contact with Bob was through the Montgomery Legion Golf group. He was always friendly, helpful, and ready with a smile to lighten everyone’s day. He will be missed and celebrated as we golf together again this summer. Sincere condolences to his family and his many friends. I am sorry that travels will prevent me from attending his service at Beachwood.

Angie, My deepest sympathies. I have so many good memories from time spent with you and Bob, from bus trips to see the Expos to playing darts at the campground. He was truly a wonderful man.

Our sincerest condolences to Angela’s and Bob’s families.

We met Bob many years ago through the Nepean Nomads Walking club and continued our friendship during our time golfing with the Montgomery Legion.
Bob loved golf, enjoyed being around people; a most genuine and good- hearted person.
He will be missed and remembered.

Chrissie and I are heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Bob and offer our sincere condolences to their families.
I first met Bob in 1989 when we were serving with the military at NDHQ, Financial Services. We and our wives became close friends and spent many happy hours socializing, golfing, and travelling with our walking club. Bob was the ultimate volunteer. He organized numerous bus trips for the Nepean Nomads which included Quebec City, Muskoka, Niagara Falls, and Albany, NY. His meticulous planning always included treats like muffins and a bottle of red wine in our rooms on arrival at our destination. He organized and planned annual golf tournaments for our members complete with a BBQ and prizes and he was always available to volunteer at our club’s walking events and annual dinners. Bob and I enjoyed over ten years of being Ottawa Senators season ticket holders and again Bob always volunteered to drive me to and home from the game. Bob was a kind and considerate man and we are grateful and honoured to have been his friend. Chrissie and I will miss him terribly. Rest in peace Bob, we love you.
