It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tad Bailey on August 1, 2020 at the age of 55. He died at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, surrounded by his loving family, a year after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Cheryl Bailey. Adored father of Sean, Evan, and Jenna. Cherished son of Penny Bailey. He was predeceased by his father Neil Bailey. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends.

Tad was born in Winchester, England but grew up in Ottawa. He attended Carleton University, achieving a Bachelor of Arts in History. Later, he obtained his Bachelor of Education at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales, Australia. He obtained qualification in Special Education and was a devoted teacher to his students and dedicated to his work. Tad loved his work family at Lester B. Pearson Catholic High School and they showed their love for him with their unwavering support throughout his health struggles.

Tad previously worked in the health care field for many years at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. He had many wonderful friends and colleagues there as well. They also showed so much love and support for Tad throughout his hospital stays by checking on him and spending time with him whenever they could.

Tad was truly loved.

Above all, the most important part of Tad's life was his family. He adored his Mother and was a wonderful husband. But his kids were his pride and joy. Sean, Evan, and Jenna were his greatest accomplishments and he radiated pride whenever he spoke about them which was often. He was an amazing Dad and always put them first. He absolutely loved being a sports Dad and was enthusiastic and supportive of everything his kids did, travelling countless miles and making many friends and memories along the way.

Tad had an endearing and outgoing character, making everyone he met feel important and included. He quietly gave whatever he could to others and lived through his deeds and actions and not just words. He was a fantastic storyteller, a loyal friend, and a true gentleman. His sense of humour, quick wit, and easy laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Tad enjoyed travel, reading, history, sports, and anyone who knew him knows how much he loved a cold pint of imported or craft beer, especially when shared with a friend.

He will be forever in our hearts.

Many thanks to all the staff of the of The Ottawa Hospital (F7 Neurosurgery, the Ottawa Cancer Clinic, The rehabilitation Centre, Civic ICU, and NACU) for their wonderful care. To all of our friends who showered us with love and support throughout this journey, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Due to social constraints related to the pandemic, a private memorial for immediate family will be held at Beechwood Cemetery. A larger celebration of Tad's life is planned for a later date when circumstances allow and all who cared about Tad can attend.

If you wish, a donation can be made in Tad's memory to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
