I first met Sam when he joined the Board of Directors of the Chinese Community Building. He quickly proved to be a valuable member of our team, and greatly contributed to our role of guiding and overseeing the operation of the building. Other board members also appreciated Sam's knowledge and wisdom. Sam was one of the mostly friendly people I have ever met; always smiling and passionate about giving back to the community he lived in. His hard work and dedication in organizing the many trips and the bi-annual Hoy Sun Convention in China are appreciated by all. With the passing of Sam, we lose a shining example of a good man. He will forever be missed by all of us. Our sincere condolences to Beverly and family.

Several years ago, we met in a community swimming pool. He expressed the desire to learn the BUTTERFLY stroke which is a tall order for a senior. Every session, he showed up early and started practising on his own. He almost got the hang of it but the surgery took this endeavour to a halt.

My cousin Sam is a much beloved member in our family. His intelligence, kindness, work ethic, and determination to succeed were shown early when he was still a young boy in Hong Kong. Through his life, Sam had been working hard, treating people generously, and making contributions to the community. It is hard to find a person of his quality. He will be dearly missed by all of us.
