Major (Retired) Roy Richard "Dick" Geddes CD

Major geddes

Richard passed peacefully from complications arising from a stroke after a happy life.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth.  Loving father to Mary Lynne (Randy Maguire) and Bruce (Debbi Satterlee) and grandfather to Michael.  Richard will be fondly remembered by Elizabeth’s family, her children Tom Orpana and his family and Kirsten Orpana.  One of ten children of Clifford and Genevieve Geddes he is survived by June & Al McPherson, Herb, sister-in-law Joyce and many nephews and nieces and their families.

Richard (Dick) was a Korean War Veteran and proudly served in Canada, England, Germany and the Middle East during his 35 year army career.  He enjoyed walking, music, opera, skiing, cottaging, camping and travelling.

Thanks to the exceptional staff at The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, Gatineau 1 North for their caring over the past years.  Please consider a memorial donation to perleyrideaufoundation.ca. Richard will be buried at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at Beechwood Cemetery in a private service.  We will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Met Richard once back in the mid 50"s while dating Erle. Found Richard a very warm interesting person and it showed in his future life. The Geddes family had some personable people

Loved visiting with Uncle Richard at the last family reunion. Great stories and many laughs. I remember his giving me an awesome Christmas present in the Geddes Family Christmas name draw in Medicine Hat when I was eight! Thanks again Uncle Richard. Our love to Mary Lynne, Bruce, Elizabeth and the families.
