Ronald Arthur Heacock of Ottawa died peacefully at home September 15, 2022 at the age of 94. He was born in London (England) and by the age of 24, Ron had completed his PhD in Chemistry at King's College. After finishing his studies, Ron emigrated to Canada to do post doc research at the NRC. In 1957, he relocated to Saskatoon where his three children; Susan, Helen and Tony were born. Over the next 35 years, work in both chemistry and health administration took Ron to Halifax, Quebec City, Paris and finally back to Ottawa in 1974 where he worked at Health Canada until his retirement in 1992.

For many years, Ron was an avid photographer and a keen gardener. In retirement, he enjoyed lawn bowling and travelling. Ron never forgot his English roots, enthusiastically watching his Tottenham Hotspurs and laughing along with British comedy on television.

Above all, Ron loved and cherished his family. He leaves behind his best friend, and beloved wife of 71 years, Sheila; three loving children, Helen (Jason Rivers), Susan and Tony (Silvia Zanon), six grandchildren: Alex (Hortense), Catherine (Jordan), Ryan (Amy), Samantha (Nick), Jake and Sofia, as well as two great grandchildren.
Ron's family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff and residents at the Carlingwood Retirement Community, who made these past eight years so happy.
A Celebration of Life will occur at St Martin's Anglican Church, 2120 Prince Charles Road, Ottawa, on Thursday September 22, 2022 at 11 am. Reception at the church to follow.
