Robert (Bob) Law Wardlaw passed away at his home in Ottawa at the age of 95.  Bob was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Jane (née Milsum), 7 years ago.  Bob is survived by his five children Stephen (Andrea Brooks), Anne (Eric Teutsch), Michael (Jill Jensen), Patricia (Peter Laurich), and Laura (Greg Osborne); and 10 grandchildren,  Jason (Erin), Andrew, and Bruce (Lauren) Laurich; Jeff, Alex, and Laura (Willie) Teutsch; Shannon (Shep) and Charlie Osborne; Jack and Heather Wardlaw, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Son of James and Mollie (née Law), brother of Janet and Tom (Grace), Bob lived a full and rewarding life, growing up in Toronto and graduating from the University of Toronto Engineering program, then moving to Ottawa where he started his career at the National Research Council.  He met Jane in Ottawa and together they built the house in which they raised their family, and where Bob continued to live to the very end surrounded by two generations of family.

Bob spent most of his 41 year career with the NRC in the Low Speed Aerodynamics Laboratory.  His work took him to many parts of the world; he was recognized internationally for his expertise on matters related to wind effects on bridges and other structures.

Bob’s love of the outdoors and nature is something he has passed along to his children and grandchildren. In winters, Bob and Jane were regulars on the cross country ski trails in Gatineau Park, and in the summer their adventures had them canoe tripping, exploring, and hiking in numerous places across Canada and around the world.

Bob valued his independence, stayed active, and embraced learning throughout his life. He had a  great curiosity and genuine interest in people he met whether through family, social, or professional connections.  He enjoyed in-depth conversations and learning about others.

This active, healthy, intelligent family man was a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren.  They will remember him with love for all the special times they spent with him. Rest in peace Bob/Dad/Grandpa, we miss you!

A memorial will be hosted by the family.  For details please contact family members.
