It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the age of 61, Robert Dubé passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife, Lise Perron.

Robert was the eldest son of the late Maurice (Moe) Dubé and the late Rachel Couture. He is survived by his wife, his children Jean-François, Frédérick and Myriam (Denis Soucy), his three grandsons, Maxime, Émerick and Isaac and his two brothers, Jacques and Alain (Guylaine Thériault).

Robert dedicated his life to his country by joining the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980, but a diagnosis of an incurable disease brought his career to a premature end in 1996, after 16 years of distinguished service. He began his career as a non-commissioned member (Private) and rose to the rank of Captain (Officer). Robert held two trades during his career: Infantry Officer with the Royal 22e Regiment and Military Police/Security Officer.

Our valiant fighter passed away after many years of suffering from his illness. He always showed remarkable courage and remained dignified and strong despite his many sufferings and the various stages of treatment that his deteriorating condition required over the years.

Although Robert always knew the only way out of his illness, he prepared himself for his departure and was filled with the small pleasures that life offered him, taking advantage of each moment, each occasion to transmit a bit of these pleasures to us in his difficult daily life, to make us forget that the day he lived was perhaps the last.

Robert will have left his mark on all those around him and by leaving behind so much light, he will continue to illuminate our lives with his resilience, strength of character as well as his unwavering sense of humor seasoned with his infectious laughter.

On Monday, May 16, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m., the family will receive relatives and friends in the Hall of Colours at Beechwood Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. At 1 p.m. the memorial service will begin in the Sacred Space and then we will proceed to the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces for the urn interment service at 2 p.m.

I’ve had the opportunity to work for Robert at CFB London in the late 80s. Robert was a great man to be around and always there to provide outmost support to his staff, Military or Civilian. I also had the opportunity to work for Robert’s father (Moe) as well, Bagotville early 80s. Both men were a big part of my Military carrier and I would not change any of it. RIP Friend.
