It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andy Stephaniuk on Jan. 10, 2022, at age 79, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Andy leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Judy; his daughters Leslie and Shannon, and their spouses Brad Abbott and Jonathan Paul; grandsons Kade and Blake Abbott and Dashiell Paul; brothers Don, Jim and Julian; mother Patricia Stefaniuk; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He will also be missed by his golfing and fishing buddies and their spouses. Andy was predeceased by his father, John.

Born in Willingdon, AB., Andy resided in several Canadian provinces after joining the Canadian Air Force in 1962, finally settling in Ottawa in 1987.

Andy was filled with love, compassion and generosity. He enjoyed careers with The Department of National Defence, Computing Devices Canada, and most recently General Dynamics, where he was admired by friends and colleagues for his professionalism, intellect, sense of humour, optimism and warmth. He loved the outdoors and its critters, was a passionate gardener, an inventive problem-solver, a fixer of things, and a dear friend and helper to all his neighbours.

Everyone who knew Andy will miss his gentleness and smile. “Catch you later, partner.” “Life is good.”

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Ottawa Wild Bird Care Centre.

Lowell and Roberta Brine (Simone's Sister)

Our deepest sympathies. My memories go back to when Andy and the "boys" were part of the wedding party for Ed and Simone. And a delicious Ukrainian supper at your place. You are all in our prayers. Lowell and Bin
