Reginald Langille, a proud member of the RCMP, passed away quietly in the afternoon of July 26th from complications of Lewy Body Dementia.

Reg is survived by his partner Vivian Eberley; his former wife Phyllis, children Todd, Brian, and Tracy Langille; grandchildren Alexander and Emma.   His big sister Irma (Graham) Fraser of Dartmouth, sisters-in-law Durece of Stellarton, and Sarah of New Glasgow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.   He is predeceased by older brothers Edison, Gerald, and nephew Stephen.

Reg was born in Westville, NS to parents Elmer Langille and Mary Euphemia (née Fraser).  After starting his career in the RCMP in 1957, he went on to marry Phyllis in 1961 and settled in Newfoundland to start their family.  He led an admirable career that took him and his family across Newfoundland, back to Regina, SK before eventually settling in Ottawa where he retired in 1982.  It was here he worked in the Public Service for years, finally retiring as a private consultant in 2015.

He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved to help those closest to him; whether is be as a soundboard to those looking for advice, or a handy man always ready to drop everything at a moments notice to help his kids around the house.   Although he loved to work, his hobbies included travelling to dream destinations with Vivian in his later years; woodworking, cycling, and being active in the lives of his grandkids.  He was a problem solver who often took on difficult projects at work, and around the house.  Reg was always looking for ways to help those closest to him.  He spent time doing chores for others in his close-knit neighbourhood.   A quiet man of many achievements; he rarely, if ever, boasted about them.  He loved to laugh, listen to music and could start a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

Reg can rest easy knowing that his family acknowledged and appreciated his hard work and dedication both personally and professionally.   He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all of those who loved him.

Internment to be held at a later date.

My deepest condolences to you Viv and his entire family. Thanks to him, I was able to find my dream job and I will always be grateful for his guidance and his friendship. He was such a classy man and there will always be a special place in my heart for the man that I always lovingly referred to as my "Mon Ami".

Reg was my boss when I worked with him in the early 1980s at RCMP HQ. He was a gentleman, with extraordinary principles. Always a smile and it was always pleasurable to be in his company, socially or professionally. Condolences to all his family members. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Vivian, my sincere sympathies to you. Although close neighbours, we did not see a lot of each other, but I remember Reg as a kind and caring man. His love will carry you through the next months.
