In loving memory of Raymond Rankin Cooper who passed away peacefully Thursday February 26, 2026 at Perley Health in Ottawa at the age of 92.

Born in Montreal in 1933. Son of the late William Roy Cooper and Evelyn Maude Rankin (née Goodfellow). He is survived by his three children (Raymond, Donna and Winston Robert (Bob)) and pre-deceased by his son Burton. He leaves behind his 6 grandchildren (Ronin, Karly, Richard, Suzanne, Dylan and Valerie) and his two great-grandchildren (Cash and Emmie).

Raymond was predeceased by his six siblings Janet, Winston, Fenimore, Margery, Lillian and Merrill. Margery and Lillian worked in War Assets plants in Montreal. All four sons served our country during the Second World War or the Korean War. Winston graduated Honour Cadet from Sandhurst Military College and served with our Royal Armoured Corps in Africa, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He was wounded at Nijmegen. In 1951 he joined the US Army, 7th Cavalry thence 25th Infantry Div., Battalion Operations Technical Sergeant. Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on 3 September 1952. James Fenimore served as PO1 in RC Navy- Battle of the Atlantic 1941-1945. “There no man should have been asked to go”. WS Churchill. Merrill also served with the RC Navy. He attained the rank of Commander and served in Korea 1951-53.

Raymond served with the RCAF 1951-54. After graduating from RCAF Radar, Radio and Communications courses he went on to a career with CNCP Telecomm, retiring in 1988 after 13 years as their Liaison Officer with the Federal Department of Communications.

Raymond’s urn will be interred in the family plot in Huntingdon Québec at a later date.
