André Cloutier Celebration Of Life
André Cloutier passed away peacefully with family at the Queensway Carleton
Hospital on Tuesday, September 24th, at the age of 92, after many years of
defiantly battling heart disease. His constant upbeat outlook and sense of
humor brought light to the lives of all who knew him.
Born to Eugene and Bernadette Cloutier in Long Island, New York, he spent his
childhood in Montreal, moving to Ottawa with his family for high school. In
1953 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served for 21 years in
communications, both in Canada and abroad, culminating as Sergeant.
In 1957, he married his first wife and next-door neighbor Barbara (née
Branson), spending 31 wonderful years together. They were posted to France,
then returned to Ottawa to welcome their daughter Diane. Next, they moved to
Whitehorse, where André spent six months in Alert, Nunavut. They planted
roots back in Ottawa, and he commuted weekly to Kingston before retiring his
uniform. Always having a true “gift of the gab,” he easily transitioned into
sales, representing industries as diverse as retail, lighting, and automotive
aftermarket products.
Upon Barbara’s untimely death from cancer, he took a trip to Paris, where he
met his sweetheart and second wife, Elaine, who had also recently lost her
husband. The pair instantly connected, and Elaine moved to Ottawa so they
could live 34 fun-filled golden years together, wintering in Florida, camping with
many close friends at the Rideau River, traveling and spending time with their
extended family, including his new daughters, Chris, Vicky, and Susan.
Over the years, André has pursued his passions for photography, electronics,
mastering the grill, playing the organ, operating his Ham radio, and teaching.
He served for ten years on his condo association board, including a term as
President, where he ardently represented the interests of his community.
André is survived by his wife, Elaine Cloutier (née Craig), daughter Diane
Moura (née Cloutier), and husband Alex, stepdaughters Chris Taylor and Susan
Taylor, sisters Suzanne Veilleux and Lise Snedden, granddaughter Valerie
Moura, step grandchildren Katie Green, Sarah Murphy Green and
great-grandson Walter Murphy Green, nieces and nephews Dave Branson and
wife Wendy, Pierre Charlebois, and wife Caroline, Monique Charlebois and
husband John, Jean Charlebois, Don Keating, Michelle Zanutta and husband
Bob, Chantale Fetch and husband Brad, Bob Legault and wife Lorraine,
Catherine Ruel and husband Marc, Diane Bouillon and husband Chris, and Louise
Veilleux.
He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Barbara Cloutier (née Branson),
sisters Yvette Charlebois, and Claire Radcliffe, and stepdaughter Vicky Kidziun.
He will be dearly missed by his many close friends.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of Queensway Carleton
Hospital for their compassionate care, particularly his family physician, Dr.
Barbara Yeats, for her twenty-five years of patiently and expertly managing his
condition.

Uncle Andre was many things to many people but to me he was the most beloved and wonderful Uncle. I learned many lessons, heard many stories and shared too many laughs to count! Miss you forever My Sweet Uncle Andre.
