1949 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Aubut on June 15th, 2024 after a very short, but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved father and hero to Stéphanie Aubut and Michelle Aubut (Jennifer Rhéaume). Adored Pepère to Mia, Greyson, Riley, Jaxton and Jack.  Paul is survived by his sister Mona (James Lavertu) and his nieces and nephews and their children, Edward Lavertu (Martha), Mike Lavertu (Monique), Christina Steenstra (Peter) and Emily Lavertu (Dario). Paul will be sadly missed by Louise Nadeau, his common law partner, as well as Marc, Claire, Michelle and family. He also leaves in mourning the mother of his children, Judy Blyth. Paul was predeceased by father Lionel Aubut and mother Odélie Aubut (Savoie).

Paul will be remembered for his perpetual smile, his generosity and above all, his love of family. A creative and determined man, Paul was loved, nurtured and inspired by two large family clans, the Aubut’s and the Savoie’s. He treasured his roots which were the source of his identity and the wellspring of his love, generosity and loyalty for family.

Passionate and driven to succeed, he recognized and seized the right opportunities in the early seventies and used his many talents and entrepreneurial skills to build from the ground up a hugely successful and thriving translation business in Ottawa. With unmatched determination and work ethic, Paul grew Aubut & Associates as a family business.  His daughters are an integral part of the company and they will treasure each business email from him, no matter how serious the subject, always signed ‘Love, Dad’.  He was a mentor to many people and colleagues, who remember him today with gratitude.

His second career, beer league hockey, started at age 45 and allowed him to forge many precious friendships with his teammates that last to this day. We are all so much richer to have crossed paths with Paul.

Friends, colleagues and family, are invited to gather for a celebration of life on Saturday June 29th 2024 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa after 1 pm. A ceremony will be held at 2 pm with a reception to follow from 3 to 5 pm.

In remembrance of Paul’s life, he had asked that any charitable donations be made to the Maison Matthieu Froment-Savoie.

Paul - a true friend. Though time and distance allowed for few contacts over the years, you were one of the few who always kept in touch. Your memory brings a smile to my face always. Your smile, your laugh and your contagious energy lives on in all you touched. Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest sympathies to Michelle, Jen and the kids. Paul was such a dedicated Dad, I can only imagine that he was just as dedicated as a Grandfather. Paul was at all the hockey games, helped out behind the bench when needed, even coached when needed. He was so supportive of entire team. It was a pleasure and a priviledge to have been able to spend time with him and to get to know him. Sending hugs and love. Rest easy, Paul.

We were never fortunate enough to meet you in person - but the smile that you put on our friend Louise's face proved you were an amazing and caring person - to Louise - we hope that the many moments you shared with Paul will bring a smile to your heart.
