It is with profound sadness that the Beatty family announces the passing of Nelly Josianne Beatty. She was the devoted wife of the late Bruce W. Beatty (2011), and the proud mother of Gordon (Danielle), William “Bill” (Tanya), and Ian (Heather). Nelly was also a loving grandmother to Ayrianna, Phoenix, Austin, and Victoria. She is survived by her dear brother-in-law Pierre Hirtzmann and her nephew Marc Hirtzmann (Aline). Nelly will be remembered as an indomitable force, always ready to face challenges with determination. A passionate cook, a fervent gardener, and a versatile jill-of-all-trades, she embodied fortitude and an appreciation for life, which she shared with her family and friends. She is predeceased by her sister Solange Hirtzmann (2014) and her parents Raoul Ferdinand Roche and Mathilde Roche. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Bruyère Saint-Vincent Hospital and the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute, the Canadian Cancer Society or Bruyère Hospital. A time of visitation will take place at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Ave, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM and a reception thereafter.

Nelly was one of a kind. She was strong willed, determined and energetic until her balance caused her issues. She was dedicated to her three Sons, their spouses and adored her Grandchildren. They all gave her great joy, support and love. She leaves behind in loving care, her fur baby Zoe.
Nelly was an avid gardener and a great cook, even baking bread. I enjoyed our many conversations while gardening with her. I will miss her smiling face, her laughter, her kindness and advice. R.I.P. our dear friend Nelly.
Our sincerest sympathy to Gordon, Bill, Ian and Families. Nelly loved and appreciated everything you did for her. She always said to me that she had raised wonderful Sons. She was proud of all your accomplishment.
Tenderly, may time heal your sorrow;
Gently, may friends ease your pain;
Softly, may peace replace heartache,
And may warmest memories remain.
Your Mom is at peace now and reunited with your Dad.
She will be greatly missed.
