Nasreen passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, after a courageous 7-year battle with metastatic breast cancer, aged 79. Nasreen is survived by her husband Fereydoun and her two loving sons Shahryar and Shahrouz, daughter in-laws Niloofar and Susan, four grandchildren Ardavaan, Sanaz, Kasra, and Seiroos, as well as her two sisters Simeen and Ezzat, brother Majid, nieces Laleh, Maryam, Shiva, Mona, and nephews Sasan, Reza, Ashkan and Nima.

Nasreen and her two sisters raised their children in an incredibly close-knit fashion resulting in a very close bond between the nieces and nephews and the three sisters. The loss of Nasreen is devastating for the entire Ottawa family.

Nasreen was a productive member of the health care team serving the City of Ottawa retiring as a lead physiotherapist from the Ottawa General after 20+ years of service. After retirement Nasreen enjoyed travelling, gardening, spending time with her close friends and her sons, husband and two sisters as well as her nieces and nephews.

Nasreen was an incredibly generous and warm individual and had a tremendous zest for life which allowed her to fight her terminal cancer recurrence for nearly 7 years. She was a lioness with tremendous drive and fought through years of chemotherapy, immuno-therapy, and radiotherapy and did it all with a smile and desire to push through and enjoy life. Her fight with cancer allowed her to see all of her grandchildren and have many memories with her family and close friends.

She was a guiding light for us all and anyone who met her. Always thoughtful, honest, and caring. Nasreen was the perfect balance between intelligence, organization, drive, honesty and sheer will to push forward. She was a confidant, advisor, coach, cheerleader, and shoulder to cry on for many.

Nasreen will be missed immensely by many, and we know she is resting in peace.

Nasreen Joon was an incredible aunt who always found positivity and encouragement even in the hardest situations. She will be sorely missed but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
