Murdock Alexander Bolduc, 80, of Nepean and originally from Halifax, died March 1st, 2026, at The William and Maureen Shenkman Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by family.

Keeping a promise he made to her at 17, he married Shirley Dunn on August 26th, 1972, having two children, Shalan and Sean. They later added a fur baby to the mix, their husky-shepherd Shadow, who brought them 12 years of joy.

Murdock, better known to family and friends as Doc, Junior, or Dude, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1967, serving 31 years as Chief Warrant Officer. Throughout his service he travelled to many parts of Canada, including Alert, where he often enjoyed communing with the local wildlife. He took his work very seriously, and was proud to serve his country, as many family members did before him.

He was an avid fisherman, maker, music lover, tinkerer and fixer. But Doc was best known for his kindness and sense of humour, a quality particularly loved by his granddaughter, who was the biggest fan of his cow jokes. He was never one to let a good joke, or gentle ribbing, pass him by. If you received one of his mischievous grins, you knew a moment later you'd be laughing, and possibly rolling your eyes.

Doc is survived by his amazing wife Shirley, children Shalan (Paul) and Sean (Lisa), his cherished granddaughter, Vivian, his brother Wayne (Stephanie), his sister Marsha (Mike), his sister-in-law Irene, his many nieces and nephews, and his dearest friend Lynne.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Delia, his sister Diane, his brothers-in-law Jack, Charlie and Albert, his best friend Wayne, and his beloved dog Shadow.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the healthcare professionals, including Dr. Wei, Dr. Moore, and all the doctors and nurses at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, and Palliative Care Unit at Saint-Vincent Hospital, along with so many others who cared for Doc like he was a family member and showed him such kindness and compassion, to which, in return he kept them laughing alongside him until the end.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at 1:00pm at Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church with the Pastor Cliff Fletcher officiating.

While your generosity is greatly valued, the family kindly requests no flowers. Contributions to the Bruyère Health Foundation in memory of Murdock Bolduc would be appreciated. But even more, they ask that everyone just spend time with their loved ones and cherish those moments.

I am sad to hear of Juniors passing. I lived with the Bolduc family for a short time and I have some funny and very heart warming memories of Junior when he was a young boy. My condolences to Shirley and shalan, Sean and Vivian. Go in peace Junior to receive your eternal reward.🙏

It is with much Love and Joy I will remember Doc. His sense of humor kept me on my toes in my teens and twenties. Thanks for building me an amazing mountain bike as a kid. He couldn't ever know the joy and adventure it brought me. He Always looked me in the eye while he shook my hand. What a positive figure in my life. Thank you Sir.
