It is with heavy hearts that the family of Thomas (Tom) Potts Telford, born in Paisley, Scotland, announce his passing at age 90 on May 17, 2025.  Beloved husband of Judy Ann O’Neil of 50 years.  Tom was a devoted partner whose loyalty and love never wavered. He was the proud and steady father of Courtney Telford, and Alison Telford (Adam Joiner), and the cherished grandfather of Madelyn, Chloe, and Tye, who brought endless joy and pride to his days.

Tom dedicated over 30 years to the Canadian Armed Forces, honourably serving his country in Cyprus, Germany (both North and South), and across Canada. He joined the Canadian Black Watch in Toronto after coming to Canada and ended up becoming a talented Piper.  Later, he transitioned into Logistics, bringing discipline and dedication to every role he held.

A loyal fan of soccer and hockey, Thomas could always be found passionately cheering on his teams, often with strong opinions and unwavering loyalty—traits that defined much of who he was. Known for being set in his ways, (stubborn) he was equally known for the depth of his devotion to his family. For Tom, family wasn’t just a priority—it was everything.

His legacy is one of steadfast commitment, quiet strength, and a fierce love for those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Visitation will take place at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa), on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, from 6-9 p.m.  A private family burial will be held in the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery on May 29th, 2025.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Veterans’ House Canada would be greatly appreciated, as Tom believed that no Veteran should be homeless.
