It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Mastooreh Oke, beloved wife, daughter, sister and aunt who passed away Saturday morning, November 29, 2025.  Dr. Mastooreh Oke was a rock of support to her family and a stalwart champion of her faith.  Mastooreh was born in Tehran, Iran on August 23, 1953.  While still in her youth, she moved to India to support the activities of the Baha’i Community of India.  While in India, she taught herself English, Malayalam and Hindi and graduated with degrees in pharmacy and medicine.

Shortly after settling in Canada, in 1986, Dr. Oke developed a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis which invalided her for the rest of her life and took away from her the possibility of practicing her profession.  Yet, despite the severe limitation imposed on her by this affliction, she fought valiantly to serve her faith, support her family and to maintain a positive outlook on life that was an inspiration to all those who knew her or came in contact with her.  She is remembered by her family with great love and affection and deep respect.  We are all better and stronger for having known Dr. Mastooreh Oke.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after 12 noon. Funeral service will begin at 1:00pm.  The Interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery at 3:00pm.

Those unable to attend in person are invited to attend the ceremony virtually online via livestream

Donations in remembrance of Dr. Mastooreh Oke and in lieu of flowers can be made to the Ottawa Food Bank and/or the Shepherds of Good Hope.

Until we meet again, dear Mastooreh.

Dear David, It's so hard to find the right words. I can only imagine the tremendous grief you must feel at the loss of her physical presence; yet I pray you take comfort in knowing she is no longer experiencing pain and suffering. She is no doubt reaping the rich rewards of a life of devoted service to the Cause and remains a shining star in God's firmament. She will no doubt continue to accompany you spiritually in life. Much love to you and your family. -- Marguerite

Darquis

Sad that Mastooreh had to suffer so many limitations after making such solid plans for a life of medical service to others. Happy that she was connected to a community which valued her spiritual services to all. Her life of service has just begun.
