Marjorie Marie Barclay (nee Johnson)

Who was she? Well, she was a daughter, a sister, a mother and a friend but to most who loved her she was Gram or Aunt Marge, even if you were not really her family.  Most notably though, she was a force to be reckoned with and she made sure you knew it!

On March 17, 2023 the heavens above opened up to bring her back to those she loved. Marge was pre-deceased by her parents Mary Taylor and Thomas Johnson, seven siblings, Shirley Scott (Earl), Joyce Fullerton (Terry), Dewy Philipow, Teddy Johnson (Betty), Tommy Johnson (Bev), Gordie Johnson (Barbara) and Butchie Taylor along with her mother and father-in-law Beatrice and Earl Barclay, her sisters-in-law June Hargreaves (Slim), Maureen Boisclair (Gerry), Shelia Powers (Keith), a brother-in-law Keith Dickson and Joanne (“Joey”) Smith whom she loved as a granddaughter not to mention the many wonderful best friends all of which she has dearly missed.

As her family, we are certain that she is in good company enjoying the next stage in her journey. A journey which will no doubt include many things such as good food, great adventures, hilarious card games, parties where she will be dancing and jiving her heart out and of course the occasional trip to the casino.  After all, if there is a heaven, it must have a casino!

Marge's spirit will be carried on through her two daughters Shelley Bond (Steven) and Laurie Barclay, her seven grandchildren, Geoff Mayotte (Rhonda), Amy Irwin (Hugh), Erin MacDonald, Ashley Barclay (Matt), Sam Bond, Riley Bond (Kristin) and her ten great grandchildren, William (Sara), Harrison, James, Jack, Liam, Shelby, Hannah, Grace, Ella and Harper. She is also survived by a sister Jeannie Dickson, a brother-in-law Lloyd Philipow and a sister-in-law Violet Taylor all living in Brantford, Ontario and her many many nieces and nephews who all meant the world to her.

Marge proudly worked for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police running the Fingerprint Bureau for most of her career which began on February 1, 1961 until she retired on April 8, 1990.    She later went back to the RCMP and worked part time as a Temporary Civilian Member for seven years, leaving her beloved RCMP again on April 13, 2010.  Yes, 2010, she was at that time almost 80 years old.

She loved to dance, cook Sunday dinners, to bake, sew beautiful quilts, knit and even once upon a time, garden.

Our hearts will miss her dearly! Always and forever.

A private internment and family service will be held later this spring. Family and friends are invited to sign her guest book below.

Aunt Marge was a great lady. Time spent with her or talking to her was always special. I even got to work with her at the RCMP for a summer. She will be missed very much. Our sympathy to her family!

We were all very sorry to hear that your mom died. Now my parents will have a neighbor at Beechwood Cemetary. Your mom was amazing both to me and the boys have fond memories of her in Florida wearing mickey mouse ears and being a good sport and sitting in the wheelchair so we got onto the rides quicker by using the handicapped lines instead. She definitely had a very full life with adventures and love. Love to both of you and your families.
