Marion Joan Haggart (née Preston), 95, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2025, surrounded by family. Married to the late Arthur Haggart (68 years), she was a prototypical RCAF wife, traveling the world (Centralia, Winnipeg, Borden, Trenton, St Hubert, Baden Soellingen) and raising a family of two boys, Brian and Wayne (Valerie Byrne). Despite her diminutive stature she was a feistily fierce golfer and curler, taking advantage of both facilities on Air Force bases. Married to an Air Force firefighter, she considered herself knowledgeable on all facets, feeling free to advise the operators of her retirement home on fire safety shortcomings. She dedicated herself to being a housewife and mother but volunteered on the sidelines for many years as a Cub Scout leader, even rising to the position of district commissioner on one posting. Marion is also a member for life of the Canadian Legion - she and husband Art were stalwart members of the Sarnia Branch 62 for many years. She took particular joy in carrying the UN flag in any parade put on by the Legion, especially Remembrance Day, even in windy conditions that threatened to take her away. She loved without reservation her four grandchildren Erin Spencer (Will), Melissa Syer (Tim), Patrick (Hannah Sheridan) and Dylan (Jamie Shore) and her great grandchildren Tristan, Samuel, Matthew, Madeline, Peter and Brooklyn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Redwoods Retirement Home for taking such good care of Marion over the last few years.
The family would also like to thank - and express their admiration for - all the medical professionals who treated Marion after her fall, from paramedics to doctors, nurses and other staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Civic Hospital and Extendicare West End Villa.
At Marion's request an interment will be conducted at Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery. In Memoriam donations may be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada.
