It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Frade Peres, who passed away peacefully at General Hospital on November 3rd (near midnight) at the age of 87. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments.

Born in Portugal in a small village in the interior of the country (Lavacolhos), she immigrated to Canada with her three small children to join her husband (Manuel Roda Simoes) in 1973. She was extremely talented always willing to mend and make clothes for her family, knit blankets, and many other talents.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Manuel Roda Simoes.  Her children; Jose Antonio Peres Roda, Filipe Manuel Peres Roda (Simoes) ( daughter-in-law Fernanda Maria

Laranjeira de Abreu Torres), and Anabela Peres Roda (Simoes).  She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Alexandra Makeila Torres Simoes, Natalia Alissa Torres Simoes, Sofia Simoes de Freitas and Miguel Filipe Simoes de Freitas.

A visitation will be at the Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, ON) on Wednesday, November 6th from 5-8pm.

A Funeral service will be at Eglise Portugaise Notre-Dame-De-Fatima (42 Rue Hanson Gatineau), on Friday November the 8th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ottawa University Heart Institute (https://foundation.ottawaheart.ca/give/)

She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Our deepest condolences to the Simoes family on this sad Loss. Sra Simoes was always very welcoming, generous with a kind and pleasant personality. Heaven has reclaimed another angel. May she rest in peace
