It is with a breaking heart that I announce the sudden passing of my dearest wife, Margaret Lee, my partner and soulmate of 44 years.

Margaret passed away on Monday, March 21 at the Ottawa General Hospital from septic shock due to complications with a burst appendix. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis Lee, her daughter Doris and her husband (Jon), her mother Wei Fong, her sister Wendy and her family (Daniel, Toby, Ying, Priscilla, and Micah), her brother Allan and his wife (Jessica), and her sister Sandy.

She was born in Hong Kong, and came to Canada for college, where we were destined to meet. We were married in Ottawa in 1983. She enjoyed travelling, particularly on cruises to such exotic places as Jamaica, China, Iceland, Italy, Hawaii, and Alaska. In her retirement, she taught herself how to play the piano, and even started giving piano lessons to her sister Wendy over video during the pandemic.

She lived a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life, which makes her sudden passing all the more heartbreaking. She was a loving wife and mother, and a kind and generous friend to many.

In loving memory of Margaret, friends are invited to visit the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. on Sunday April 3rd from 2:00 to 6:00pm. For international guests or those who cannot attend due to the pandemic you may attend virtually via livestream from 2:00-3:00pm. - please click here to register.

We kindly ask that if you attend in-person that you are fully vaccinated, wear a mask, and have tested negative for COVID-19 beforehand. We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

“Someone who meant so much will live on in so many loving memories.”

We only had the chance to meet Margaret a few times.

Although we were too shy to speak at the wedding, Louis and Margaret spoke so eloquently about their pride in their daughter, their love for her and the joy they felt at Jon joining their family. We felt the same joy at Doris joining ours.

So even though we did not see her often, we knew that Margaret was a wonderful wife and mother. Jon has been very fortunate to have her as his mother-in-law.

Please accept our deepest sympathy for your sudden loss.

Her memory will live on in your hearts.

All our condolences to Louis & Doris. We are still chocked from this sad news and sad that we can’t be with the rest of the Lee Family today but we are watching from Paris. Aunt Margaret was always happy and so welcoming, we will always cherish those family diners around Christmas at her place. The boys will miss their aunt who was always so nice to them. We will miss her dearly!
