Major (Retired) Bradley Coombs
October 29, 1961 - November 2, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Major (Retired) Bradley Coombs on November 2, 2024, in his 63rd year, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Brad will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Loraine (Hanlon), and cherished by his children, Angela (Chris Trask) and Geoff. He was raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, by his parents, Valma and Gerald, alongside his brother, Blaine.

Brad proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 26 years before retiring in Ottawa. He enjoyed relaxing afternoons by the pool with Loraine, tending to the BBQ, and cheering on the Montreal Canadiens. Inspired by his father-in-law, Bill, he also enjoyed exploring the family genealogy and golfing with his brothers-in-law.

In honour of his memory, the family will hold a private graveside ceremony at the National Military Cemetery (Beechwood). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

We have met very few other people as full of life as Brad. We are truly shocked at the news of his passing. Lorraine and family our hearts go out to you. We will always remember Brad laughing and smiling on the beautiful, white, sandy beach in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Such a shock to hear this news. We shared quite a few beers and laughs when I lived in Ottawa many years ago. My condolences to the family and many friends.

So sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences to the family. Brad was my deer compatriot, a friend and a key pillar in the Chinook project. He was always a true gentleman , brilliant officer and a great team player. His laughter was such a morale booster to the group and quite contagious. Lest we forget, mon ami !
Bon courage à la famille et ses nombreux amis.

I offer my sincere condolences to Brad’s family. Brad was a key member of the procurement community in National Defence, Materiel Group just before he retired. I will remember him for his dedication to the department and most of all, his sage advice and friendship.

Very sad to hear of Brad’s passing, but honoured to have worked alongside a truly dedicated professional as Brad was. Sincerest condolences to Brad’s family and friends, but know that Brad contributed so much, during his service. Brad: ‘Until Valhalla!’ my friend… BATB
