It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Louise Arp (née Barnabé), who passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on September 24, 2024.

Louise was a beloved mother, sister and grandmother. She was pre-deceased by her dear husband Karl, as well as her sister Denise and her brother Bob. She leaves behind her son Kevin (Susan), her daughter Kim, her sisters Claire (Anne) and Suzanne (Dale) and her brother Marcel (Donelda). She was the cherished Oma to Liam, Ceilidh, Dante and Maliya and a dear Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Louise lived a vibrant life with an unwavering love for her family, the cornerstone of her life. An avid walker, she could often be seen walking around Carson Grove or to the nearest Tim Hortons and St-Laurent Mall to socialize with friends. Louise is remembered for her sense of humour, her strength and her love of baking. She was also known for her vibrant personality which shone through in her love of lipstick. She never went anywhere without her lipstick on and her hair done!

Louise was also a dedicated volunteer at the Montfort Hospital for many years which is something she took great pride in.

A visitation will be held on October 1, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery, and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa). A private family Interment will take place at a later date.

Dear Kim, Kevin, Aunt Claire and all the Arp & Barnabe family,
My heart broke hearing the news of Louise’s passing. My sincere condolences to you all, you’re in my thoughts during this difficult time.
I will always remember Louise with a lot of love ❤️ We had many laughs over the 45+ years I was lucky enough to know her. I can still remember the taste of her amazing chocolate chip cookies and I still cook my grilled cheese the same way she always did for us growing up!!
Lipstick, yes, Louise loved her lipstick and her sneakers, you rarely saw her without them.
I remember the fun times, laughing, dancing and singing in the basement, the wonderful big dinners Mr.Arp & Louise always prepared on holidays. So many wonderful memories.

I hadn’t seen Louise in the past two years but we always shared a visit when I was back in Ottawa. Louise would beam when speaking about her four wonderful grandchildren, she loved them so dearly and I know they’ll miss their Oma so much.

Louise will be missed dearly by so many, thinking of you all and I’m so very sorry for your loss
