It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie on Friday, April 4, 2025 following a short and fierce battle with brain cancer.

Julie is predeceased by her beloved son, Vincent, and father, Don. Julie will be deeply and forever missed by her loving daughter, Eve; mother, Betty; brother Stephen (Susanne); sister Heather (Jeff); nieces and nephews: Devon, Grace, Dylan, Molly, Ella, and Owen; her dog Sammy and many cherished friends, extended family and colleagues.

Julie was a bright shining light who touched the lives of so many with her humour, kindness and beaming smile. Even in the depths of grief and illness, her ability to make those around her laugh and her deep care and compassion for those she loved shone through.

Her children were her largest source of inspiration and pride. She spoke often about how much she loved watching them grow into their unique and authentic selves. The tragic loss of Vincent broke her soul. We hope that she passed from the loving arms of friends and family straight into Vince’s comforting embrace. Julie rests knowing that Eve is surrounded with love from her father, Dominic, and everyone in the Roy and Crooks families.

As one of her dear friends wrote, our hearts are aching at the thought of a world without Jules.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Julie's memory to a charity of your choosing that supports cancer research or youth mental health.

Special thanks to the kind support of her care team including Tracy Mantle, Drs. Jennings, Nicolas & Nair and the caring staff of the Ottawa Hospital Oncology unit.

A celebration of Julie's life will be held on Thursday, May 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.

Words feel so inadequate right now to express the profound sadness I feel learning about Julie’s passing. Julie and I met in grade 4 at Featherstone and remained close until university.
It's truly heartbreaking that someone so full of light and genuinely kind has been taken from us far too soon. I will always remember her infectious smile and gentle spirit.
The world feels a little dimmer without her presence. I will cherish the memories we made together, from the battle of the air bands at Ridgemont to girls’ nights out in downtown Ottawa.
My deepest condolences to her family in this difficult time.
Julie's light may have been extinguished too early, but the warmth of will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
With deepest sympathy,
Manon

If you told me 8 months ago where we'd be today I would have never believed it in a million years. Julie and I were pretty much inseparable over the last 22 years, so much so we decided to work at 2 different companies together. It's rare to have a bond like we did and I am gutted it had to end decades before it should have. We dreamed of our Golden Girl years and spoke about our future travels and plans. Julie was always up for anything I threw her way, from intense workouts, to yoga, to travels, to babysitting my endless dogs, she always said yes. There is not one person who could say a bad thing about Julie, she made everyone's world better. I can still hear her banter every time I do something silly, often times forgetting she is gone. She was wonderful, beautiful, hilarious, trustworthy, and my bestfriend. I miss her every single day, my partner in crime! To Eve, you were her world. I think of you often and will always be here if you ever need to talk. I will happily share stories of your mom and my adventures anytime. To Julie's entire family, she was truly surrounded by love right to the end. You all are the best, she loved you all so much.

I had the great fortune of meeting Julie through work and as the years went on, it was an even greater privilege to call her my friend. I will always remember Julie for her sense of humour, empathetic and caring nature, and the fierce love she carried for her kids and family.
