John Richard Gamble, 82, of Stittsville, ON, passed away peacefully in Ottawa on February 14th, 2023.

John is survived by his wife, Susan Irene (Lavalley), brother David Ian Thomas Gamble, sons John David Nairn Gamble and Peter Leonard Donald Gamble, and their mother Loretta (Nairn) Cropley, and his two grandchildren Griffin and Iris, and their mother Sandra Newton.

John was born in Ottawa in 1940 and after settling down with Loretta, John David and Peter in the Toronto area, went on to have a long and successful career as an executive with Shoppers Drug Mart. During his retirement with Sue, he enjoyed many wonderful years at their cottage on Lake Opinicon, ON and their winter home in Port Charlotte, FL.

John touched many lives with his large personality, wise counsel and enthusiasm for life. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of prostate cancer research.

A celebration of John’s life will take place at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:30PM.

I'm so saddened to learn of John's passing. Sue, my deepest condolences to you and the family. I have wonderful memories of John as a gracious and witty host during the "Zurich Goils' weekends at Lake Opinicon. He is, and will be, so fondly remembered. Many hugs and much love to you.

We always enjoyed getting together with you and Sue. John, your company, your sense of humour and your keen interest in politics made our discussions both fun and interesting. Our sincere sympathy to Sue and John's family.

John was decent, generous, smart- and a touch devious in a sly, good way. Working with John was fun- and playing was even more fun. He brightened every day with his wit, charm and generosity. Sue, our thoughts and love are with you.
