It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica Spencer-Phillips at the Bruyere Residence in Ottawa, on Saturday May 16th, 2020. Jessica or Jill as she would normally go by, was a loving mother to John, Mandy and Andrew Spencer-Phillips. Cherished daughter to Jessica and James Murphy and devoted sister to Alice Murray, Donough Murphy and Lorcan Murphy. Jill loved being an Aunt to Patrick,Fiona, Brian, Christopher and all the nieces / nephews / great nieces / nephews who she spent many years with her in Ottawa. Jill was born on May 22, 1940 in Dublin Ireland and grew up at Ballinora House, 11 Butterfield Drive, Rathfarnham Dublin. As young women Jill and Alice set off to discover the world together which took them across Europe. During this time Jill met and married Hugh Spencer-Phillips. After the birth of their family, in Ireland, Jill and Hugh moved to Ottawa in 1969. Jill's life was always an adventure seeing her live across Canada from Ottawa to Vancouver to Ottawa with stops in Toronto and Gibson BC in between. Jill was a dedicated member of several prominent human resource firms, a leader in her field, recognized repeatedly for her excellence in performance and management. Jill will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and ability to host the most memorable parties were everybody felt welcome. Jill was a great friend, sister and mother. You are already missed, Jillybugs. God bless and may you rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jill's name can be made to The Shepherds of Good Hope in Ottawa (In Memoriam/Tribute Gifts | Shepherds of Good Hope) or The Dementia Society of Ottawa (donation@dsorc.org). A celebration of Jill's life will be held at a later date in May 2021. In the meantime keep her in your thoughts and raise a glass in her honour.

With heavy hearts we celebrate Jill. A wonderful friend and cherished colleague we are devastated at her passing. Many a dinner party we celebrated at Jill's, jumped over couches and wore white linen napkins on our heads. A wonderful friend, devout Catholic who was generous to all, she will be sorely missed. I am sure the morning of her passing there was a butterfly or two guiding her home. No evening would end at Jill's without an "On the bridge at midnight, blowing kisses to the wind.." soliloquy. Sending kisses and hugs to the entire Murray and Spencer Phillips clan and celebrating a life well lived. Love you to the moon and back Jill xo
