It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Kruse, age 54, who passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at the Ottawa Hospital after a courageous battle with bile duct cancer.

Jennifer was happiest when preparing a big meal for a house full of the people she loved. No matter how big the occasion, she was always up early in the kitchen preparing a meal from scratch. Her relentless drive to make sure everyone around her was happy, fed, and taken care of will never be forgotten.  The love and compassion she showed towards her family and friends was also displayed during her many years as a nurse, where she took a great amount of pride in being able to care for others.

Jennifer will be deeply missed by her husband Denis, and her three children Cedric, Sacha, and Ella. She will also be missed by her dog Marty, who never left her side throughout her illness.

We would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Ottawa Hospital who provided exceptional care to our beloved Jennifer. You truly ensured that she was treated with expertise and compassion, while providing support to our family in our most difficult times.

Friends and family are invited to her Celebration of Life at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) on Saturday, September 9 beginning at 9:00am, Ceremony at 10:00am, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in her name to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation – Cancer Research.

Denis, Cedric, Sacha and Ella - so sorry to hear of Jennifer’s passing. I had the occasion to socialize with Jennifer on many occasions over the past twenty years when I visited my niece across the street from you. I always enjoyed chatting with her, especially about her shopping escapades. She adored her children and was very proud of each of you. May you find comfort in remembering happy times together as a family. Thinking of you at this difficult time, in sympathy - Jeannie

Dear Denis, Cedric, Sacha and Ella,

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to understand the loss you feel.

To Cedric, Sacha and Ella,

I'm sure you already know this, but your mother was an incredibly caring and loving mother, and equally so as a person. I am truly saddened to learn of her passing and I am eternally grateful to have known such a wonderful person.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Jennifer's untimely passing. My late parents Murray and Nancy were extremely fond of her. It was many years ago, but Jennifer always left a vivid impression, whether having fun on the beach at Haldimand or at family events (e.g. baptism ceremonies). My sincere condolences to Denis and to her children.

Estelle
