In loving memory of James Marshall Harper, July 27, 1931 - May 8, 2020. James passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short illness at his residence at St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa, Ontario.
James served in the Royal Canadian Airforce for over 30 years and was proud to serve his country. Fittingly, the Canadian Snowbirds flew over his home shortly before he passed away.
James was born in Newcastle , New Brunswick, the oldest of five children to the late James Weldon and Lillian Harper (nee Clarke). Husband of the late Catherine Harper ( nee Thomas).
Father to Karen, Dianne (Brian), Nancy (Alan), Sharon (Bill) and Jim (Lori). Dear grandpa to Gayle(Stephan-deceased), Greg (Alison), Leanne (Kyle), Laura , Lindsay (Fadi), Maggie, Jason(deceased), Sarah, Megan, Hayley, Jimmy, and Matthew.
Greatgrandpa to: Britney, Melanie, and Jordan, Olivia, Kaitlin and Owen, Isaiah and Asher.
James will be dearly missed by his siblings Ron(Becky), Glenna (deceased) Blair (Doris - deceased), Lorraine ( Manley - deceased), and many nieces and nephews.
Jim will be sadly missed by all his family, Rothwell Heights United Church friends (where he was a member for over 50 years and served faithfully as an elder and Sunday luncheon coordinator for many years) and by his cherished friend and caregiver Marilyn Ellis. James will be also remembered by the folks at the Gloucester Food Cupboard where he won an award for his many years of service there.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Patrick 's Home at Ottawa for their incredible care , compassion and their respect for James' needs and wishes. A special thank you
for the daily newsletters and updates the last few weeks and for Dr. Cameron's gracious care to our father. You are all angels!
A memorial service will be held at a later date when it is permitted. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Patrick 's Home in Ottawa or to your local food bank. Online memories and condolences may be forwarded to Beechwood Cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Marshall’s passing. I will always remember the kindness he and Aunt Kay showed to Alex and I all those years ago when we first moved to Ottawa. My thoughts and prayers are with his family left to mourn.
