It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim Shipton at Perley Health on May 15, 2025.  Husband of the late Joan (Osborne), father to Holly (Francis) and Cindy (Steve).  Proud grandfather to Laura (Hamish), Emily (Arrian), Sarah (Matt) and James.  Great grandfather to Rory.

He was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, and a veteran of the Korean War.  He joined the Air Force in 1948, serving for 37 years with just over 8,250 hours of flying which included 71 transatlantic flights, 18 flights to Japan and 36 flights into the Arctic above 60 north.

Heartfelt thanks for Dr. Aileen Comerton and the staff at Perley Health Rideau 1 South, especially Donna, for their attentive care.

Those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the Perley Health Foundation.

Private funeral arrangements have been made.

The world has lost a true gentle man Jamie was a humble brave smart person loving supportive cousin whom I loved dearly. Jamie brought light into any room he entered with his wit. RIP Jamie🙏

Our deepest sympathies Cindy, Steve, Holly and families. I knew your dad my entire life. He and your mom were part of the family. My
Mom even named my little sister after you! He, like dad, lived a long and fulfilling life. Mom is cooking up a storm and the entire bridge crew is enjoying a great meal, sipping cocktails, catching up and playing bridge. ❤️

I remember Uncle Jim fondly from our visits up to Verdun while growing up. He and Aunt Joan were always up for some fun.
Love to you all.

I could not have asked for a better friend than Jim when I met him at 412 Squadron in 1958. He was a mentor, a leader, a shining light in a group of fine officers. He continued to guide me and provide a wonderful friendship for the remainder of his life. I will miss him dearly. As will all his RCAF buddies. Safe navigating ahead Jim. RIP my friend. Noel.
