It is with great sadness that the family of J Maurice Lavoie announce his peaceful passing at Elizabeth Bruyere Hospice on April 16, 2022. Predeceased by his wife Joyce (nee Eason) on March 31, 2020.

He is survived by his brothers Roger and Marcel; his children Deborah, Maurice, and Raymond; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maurice was a military veteran that served in South Korea during the Korean war as a member of the Royal 22nd Regiment of Canada. He was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving as president of the Richmond branch for a time. He was a black belt in Judo, and also enjoyed shooting pool, as well as playing card games like Cribbage and Euchre with his wife. Humble in demeanor as well as giving and loving, his attitude in life was that "we'd do the best we can with what we've got". He will be deeply missed.

A Graveside Military Service will be held at the National Military Cemetery of Beechwood, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Vehicles are to assemble at the main reception building between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m.

My Father is my hero, a blessing to me from a loving Creator.
Dad's life was a shining example to me of how I should strive
to conduct myself in this world. My heart is broken.
My love for you will last forever my Dad. We will meet
again Sir. Thank you for sharing your life with me.

Thank you, Dad, for all the selfless sacrifices that you made for family. I'm just beginning to understand the sheer scope of what you endured for us as time went on. I hope and pray that someday I will be able to measure up to your loving example. Farewell, good Sir; may you rest easy.
