It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Helen St Denis on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, at the age of 63 years.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Guy; children, Christine, Alex (Amanda) and Dominic; siblings, Mark (Anna), Teresa (Jim), and Philip; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her friends at Stilo and Douvris Martial Arts.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joyce and Jeffrey.

Helen was born in Shifnal, UK, on May 8, 1959, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1969. She was a warm, caring, hilarious, and fierce wife, mother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her dry sense of humour, her generosity, how she always prioritized people over things, her incredible cooking, her dedication and perseverance in Karate, and her ability to quote books and recipes off the top of her head.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus for their care and compassion.

The family will receive family and friends at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Parish, 1940 Saunderson Drive, on Friday, February 10 at 11am. Reception to follow.

In memory of Helen, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society, the Ottawa Food Bank, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Helen’s great passion for Scouting inspired me and made me a more thoughtful person and a better leader. I am saddened to learn of her passing, but thankful she has gone home. Without a doubt she will make it a much better campfire there.

I am very saddened by Helen’s passing. She had had a tremendous impact on my work life, and I thought of her as a deaf friend. I will not forget her soon.

My sincere condolences Amanda and family. I knew Helen through Karate (small world) and she was an amazing woman and an inspiration to many, including myself. I wish you and your family comfort in this difficult time.

Dearest Tess and family, Mark and Philip, and all those nearest and dearest to Helen,
Words cannot express how saddened we are for you all at this sudden loss of Helen. Our thoughts are with you all, she was a bright light and will be sorely missed. We remember her from our high school years in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, always a big smile on her face. Love and hugs. Susan, Tony, Malcolm, and Adam

I was so sorry to hear about Helen’s passing. We are a Stilo client, and I had worked with Helen for years. She was always a pleasure to deal with. I miss her, and I’m sure everyone who knew her does too.
