Passed away at her home in Ottawa on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the age of 67. Cherished daughter of the late Allan Ablett and Harriet Ablett (née Albers). Loving sister of David, Brian, Don and Dennis Ablett. She is also survived by her beloved cats Iggy and Leroy and her three gerbils. Heather was born at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa and lived in Ottawa and the surrounding area for her entire life. Long time active member of the Ottawa Knitting Guild, she truly loved knitting and creating with this wonderful group of friends. Heather worked for many years at Speedy Messenger (now Starship Logistics). She will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends.

You are invited to a Celebration of Life of loved sister, friend, courier accountant/ driver, photographer and knitter extraordinaire! Please join three of her older (not necessarily wiser) brothers and her friends to share stories and to commemorate her. We have a number of her pictures and knitted items to give to those who wish them as a keepsake.

I used to work with Heather in the 80's-90's at Speedy Messenger and then became Starship Group of Companies ( now Starship Logistics). Heather truly loved knitting and made a sweater for me. Some colleagues found her serious but I found her friendly and very helpful . Thanks for the memories Heather and rest in peace in God's Kingdom! 🙏 ❤️ My deepest sympathy to her loved ones.

I'm sorry to hear of Heather's passing. I loved knitting with her at Ottawa Knitting Guild events. So sad to loose such a creative soul.

I just heard. I am so sad to lose a friend, although I only saw her on Saturdays. We would laugh at so many things. I wish we had seen each other more.

Heater was a prolific, very creative and generous knitter, who donated many pieces of her art to the humane society and to the Izzy Dolls project. When Canada celebrated its 150th birthday, Heather knitted 150 pet blankets, and brought them to Pinhey’s Point, laid them out on a grassy hill to spell out “Canada”, and took a photo of it before donating the pieces. She was also generous with her time, often representing the Ottawa Kitting Guild at various demonstrations, teaching people to knit, and showcasing some of her many works. I will miss her very much. Rest in peace, my friend.
