It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Glenn Bernard Kibsey on March 30, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, after his courageous battle with cancer. Two days after Glenn’s passing, his beloved wife Claire (Marleau) Kibsey, left us to join him on April 1st, 2025.

Those Who knew Glenn and Claire understood the deep and abiding love they shared for one another. Their bond, forged in their high school years, was a testament to their enduring partnership. Married for 49 years, they were dedicated parents and fun-loving grandparents. In life they were inseparable, spending their retired years as snowbirds in Roatan, Honduras and summers at Moonlight Bay Campground in Ontario.

Although they passed only days apart, their love will forever remain intertwined, continuing to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew them.

Glenn is survived by his daughter Melanie Kibsey, his son Philip Kibsey (Lisa), his sisters Joan Trokoudes (Krinos), Dorris Chamberland (James), and his brother John Kibsey (Joanne). He is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren; Daynah Hall, Calum White, Mataya Kibsey, Brynn Kibsey, and Zoe Kibsey, all of whom he cherished deeply. They shared countless special moments, from boat rides to treasure hunts for jewels, and catching frogs; memories which will be held forever in their hearts.

In addition to his family, Glenn will be deeply missed by his many friends, former colleagues, and his loyal dog, Willow Rose.

Glenn was born on January 21, 1953, in Malartic, Quebec, to the late John Sr. and Eva (Irvine) Kibsey. A proud and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Glenn served with passion and leadership for 31 years. He worked across Canada with postings in North Vancouver and Elkford, British Columbia, as well as in Sackville and Fredericton, New Brunswick, later retiring as a Sergeant in Ottawa, Ontario in 2008. Known for his unique sense of humor Glenn had a deep love for music and found joy in sunny travel destinations. His adventurous spirit extended to his love of the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. Glenn was a master storyteller, often captivating those around him with tales of his policing career and life’s many adventures, all told with wit, charm, and the kind of passion that brought people together. His children will remember him as a playful father who helped with homework, someone to turn to for advice or direction, and a great dad whom with we shared many journeys travelling and camping over the years.

Glenn’s legacy of service, devotion to his family, and his larger-than-life personality will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Roatan Marine Park in dedication of a dive site named in Glenn and Claire’s honor. This donation will help support marine conservation in the ocean waters they so deeply loved.” Donations can be made by following this link

I still feel sad just thinking that Glenn and Claire are no longer with us. I was lucky enough to know them during the ten years I spent in Ottawa (1996-2006).

Glenn & Claire were a wonderful couple. We only just met a month or so before Claire’s diagnosis when we purchased their “paradise” on Otter Lake.

Their love and support for one another was genuine and endearing.

When I think of Glenn fond memories come to mind of happy times spent together either in Malartic or Noranda when Aunt Eva and Uncle John would visit. After Dad passed, Uncle John would come to get us and we would spend several days with them in Noranda. What fun we had.
Rest in peace Glenn with your darling Claire and watch over your loved ones from above. 💕💕

We were devastated to hear the sad news of Glenn and Claire's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up together in the North. When Glenn met Claire, she became his whole world. When he met Claire, she became his whole world. They will be missed.

Glenn was my RCMP recruit trainer in 1986 in North Vancouver. It was through Glenn that I met Claire. Glenn was an excellent teacher and dedicated police officer. I enjoyed working with Glenn and his influence will forever be with me. He and Claire complimented one another. RIP to you both.
