It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ginette Gilbert-Rasuli, who died peacefully on June 14, 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS. A trailblazer in Canadian healthcare, she was among the first nurse practitioners in the country, dedicating her life to caring for others and advancing the profession she loved.
As a nurse practitioner and university professor, Ginette mentored countless students and provided compassionate care to hundreds of patients throughout her career. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched — as a healer, a teacher, and an advocate.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ginette was known for her perseverance, determination, and generous spirit. She brought grace and strength to every challenge she faced, and her courage in her final years was no exception.
She leaves behind her husband Pasteur Rasuli, her children Kevin (Stacy) and Jasmine (James) and her beloved grandchildren: William and Sophie. She also leaves behind her brothers René (Carole) and Mario (Suzy) and her sisters Linda (Lucien), Patricia, Céline (Sylvain), and Nathalie (Jean-Claude). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A funeral service to celebrate Ginette's life and legacy will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday, July 5 at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the ALS Society of Canada in her memory.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and always with us.
