Passed peacefully on June 13, 2023 in his 84th year. Proud father of daughters Leslie (Brendan) and Tracy (Nikos). He was predeceased in 2011 by Gladys, his loving wife of 47 years. He was also predeceased in 2022 by Jeannine, his caring companion of 9 years. Last year he was fortunate to have met Elizabeth, who supported him affectionately, especially during his illness. His 50 years of close friendship with Warren were cherished. We are grateful for the friendship and support of his friends Frank and Tom, and of his condo community, especially the gazebo group.

Doug had a 36-year career in the Armed Forces as a proud member of the Artillery Family. He had postings across Canada and abroad, including Germany and the Middle East, where he served as a UN peacekeeper. He loved his military career, as well as the respect and support received from his colleagues. Doug earned a B.Sc. degree in geography from Brandon University and loved to share interesting facts and trivia related to his field. His many postings lead to a lifelong love of travel. He was able to visit many interesting places such as Thailand, Egypt, Singapore, and Greece, and had hoped to visit many more. He loved good food and thoroughly enjoyed the company of others throughout his life.

He will be interred in the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery alongside his wife, Gladys.
