It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Elie Allevato on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the age of 85 at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. Beloved husband of Myrna (nee Petticrew), the cherished father of Gina (Joe Dewan) and Andrea (Jeff Orange), loving grandfather of Kaden and Danika Dewan. Brother to the late Stella, and Anthony (Terry Williams) and was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

For over 40 years as a pharmacist and owner of Village Drug Mart in Manor Park, he loved serving the community and helping his customers with all of their healthcare needs. Frank also spent many years pursuing several passions, including traveling, fishing, camping, gardening and cooking. For many years, parishioners of St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church were fortunate to enjoy many an Italian meal prepared by Frank and his helpers.

Many thanks to the Ottawa Hospital, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and Elisabeth Bruyere for their support over the years.

Visitation will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, January 28th from 2:00 to 4:00PM and from 7:00 to 9:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive on January 29, 2024 at 11:00AM. Interment and Reception to follow at Beechwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

I remember Frank very well. He filled the prescriptions for my young family when we lived in Manor Park, and most notably for my 3-year-old son who had leukemia. Frank was always so kind and compassionate towards my son and my family. He would allow me to pay him for the chemotherapy prescription meds after the insurance reimbursement came in. That helped us so much. He was a good man! I will always remember the kindness in his eyes. Frank just happened to come to mind this evening, and when I searched for him, I membered his face in the obituary photo immediately. God bless you, my beloved brother in Christ. We will meet again in heaven some day.
