ewart thornhill

Passed away in hospital on Thursday May 22, 2025 at the age of 95.  Widower of his beloved Edna (née Coish). Loving father to Judy and Don. Proud grandfather to Meghan and great grandfather to Pyper. He is survived by his sister Bertha. Predeceased by his parents Agnes (née Fox) and Frank Thornhill as well as his siblings; Gordon, Susie, Eli, Bill, Harold, Margaret, Shirley and Ruby.   Will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Grand Bank Newfoundland, he proudly served 30 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1949 to 1979, Ewart was also an avid member of the Tunis Shriners, Edinburgh Lodge in Ottawa and Fidelity Lodge Grand Bank  Nfld.

Friends are invited to assemble on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa after 12 noon. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. followed by urn interment at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ewart may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada or the charity of your choice.

Ewart was a true gentleman. He was always soft-spoken and had a great smile. His hair and moustache were always perfect. My thoughts are with you during this time of loss.
